Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries (Wow! Isn't that amazing?!). Your baby is almost 3 inches long and weighs nearly an ounce. (babycenter.com)
The past few weeks have been especially hard when it comes to food. Nearly everything we had was making me gag. So my amazing husband brought me shopping and let me wander the aisles for 45 minutes, grabbing anything that looked appealing to me. This week has been a dream. Everything I eat is sitting really well, and I am actually enjoying mealtime again. Jared has been very protective of my food too, not letting anyone else feast upon it.
I only have one more week in this first trimester! That means that next week the chance of miscarriage reduces significantly. Hopefully, the second trimester will bring an end to my food aversons and queasiness too.
Pregnancy is such a long road. Honestly, I have been trying to think about it as little as possible, because I am a very impatient person, and dwelling on it would only make it seem longer. I am very excited for the coming weeks when Poppy starts to make movements strong enough for me to feel. I think once I begin to feel those tiny kicks again, it will seem more real to me, and then I will start to get really excited. At this point, it is still hard for me to believe there is another little miracle growing inside of me. We have not even heard the heartbeat yet, so it doesn't seem quite real to me yet. I believe the next few weeks will solidify this miracle in my mind, and open the doors of anticipation.

Did the baby get smaller this week? Isn't a shrimp smaller than a lime...the size of the quarter in relation to the size of the shrimp really throws me off.
Wow--I can't believe that you are almost out of the first trimester! We should celebrate!!! You are doing great.....
I'm with Cara...man. Time flies.
Well, the photos represent the length of the baby each week, not the mass. I guess I forgot to mention that this is a photo of a jumbo shrimp. I can see a jumbo shrimp being longer than a lime.
Yay, almost to the 2nd trimester! I also remember being very relieved when my OB told me that once you've actually SEEN the heartbeat (ie. are past 7 weeks) then your chances of delivering a full-term infant jump significantly to 95%. Loved having encouraging things to dwell on. :)
